IDIR Academy

Closing the spectroscopy knowledge gap — practical training for industrial teams across Southeast Asia.

Why IDIR Academy Exists

Across Southeast Asia, instruments are being deployed — but many industrial teams lack the knowledge to use them confidently or get full value from them.

📦

Instruments Underperform Without Knowledge

Many organisations own NIR, Raman or FTIR instruments that operate far below their potential because field teams and QC staff were never trained on chemometrics or model interpretation.

🧮

Chemometrics is the Bottleneck

Spectroscopic hardware has become affordable and accessible. Chemometric expertise has not. IDIR Academy closes this gap with practical, applied training grounded in real industrial use cases.

🌏

Regional Training Gap

High-quality spectroscopy training is concentrated in Europe and North America. IDIR's regional presence in Southeast Asia — with real application experience from palm oil to pharma — makes the training immediately relevant.

What You'll Learn

Modules cover the full range from first principles through to advanced deployment — building practical competence at every level.

🔬

Introduction to Spectroscopy

What spectroscopy is, how techniques compare (NIR, Raman, FTIR, MIR), when to use each and how to select the right tool for a given application. Suitable for all levels.

🌡️

NIR Fundamentals

Near-infrared absorption, overtones and combination bands. Instrument types (FT-NIR, diode array, filter-based). Sample presentation and measurement modes for liquids, solids and powders.

Raman Fundamentals

The Raman effect and its complementarity to NIR. Fluorescence challenges and how to address them. Portable Raman applications in field screening and raw material ID.

📡

FTIR & MIR Fundamentals

Mid-infrared absorption and functional group interpretation. ATR accessories, transmission cells and reflectance modes. When FTIR outperforms NIR for quantitative analysis.

🧮

Chemometrics for Industry

PCA for exploratory analysis and outlier detection. PLS regression for quantitative calibration. Model diagnostics — RMSEC, RMSECV, RMSEP, R², Hotelling T² and Q residuals. Hands-on with IDIR WebGUI.

⚙️

PAT Fundamentals

FDA's PAT guidance framework. At-line vs in-line vs on-line vs non-invasive measurement modes. Control strategy design for pharmaceutical and chemical process applications.

Model Validation

The full validation workflow — reference method selection, sampling design, model building, independent test set validation, documentation standards and ongoing model maintenance.

🔧

Troubleshooting Spectral Data

Diagnosing model drift, outlier identification, instrument qualification checks, preprocessing strategy selection and handling real-world data quality issues in production environments.

Training Formats

Delivered in the format that works for your team — from public workshops to bespoke on-site programmes.

🏛️

Public Workshops

Open-registration courses bringing together participants from multiple organisations. Ideal for individuals and small teams seeking foundational or advanced training alongside industry peers.

🏢

Corporate / In-House Training

Private courses delivered for a single organisation — content tailored to your instruments, your materials and your specific applications. Minimum group sizes apply.

🏭

On-Site Training

IDIR's trainers come to you. Hands-on sessions conducted in your facility using your instruments and real samples — maximising relevance and practical impact.

💬

Technical Coaching

Ongoing advisory support for teams who need expert guidance as they encounter challenges in data collection, model building or deployment. Structured or ad-hoc sessions available.
